Justice Sanjeev Kumar to Head Selection Panel for Appointment of Heads and Members of Consumer Commissions in J&K | KNO

Srinagar, Jan 27 (KNO): Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, has been appointed to head the selection committee for the appointment of the president and members of the State Consumer Commission and the District Consumer Commissions. According to an order from the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, a copy of which is in possession of the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Justice Sanjeev Kumar has been appointed as the chairperson of the selection committee for these appointments. As per the rules governing these appointments, the president and members of the State Commission and the District Commission shall be appointed by the State Government on the recommendation of a Selection Committee. This committee comprises the Chief Justice of the High Court or any Judge of the High Court nominated by him, the Secretary in- charge of Consumer Affairs of the State Government, and a nominee of the Chief Secretary of the state. Justice Sanjeev Kumar was appointed as the head of the selection panel after the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh nominated him for the position. Under the Consumer Protection Act-2019, the State Government is required to establish a State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, known as the State Commission, and District Commissions—(KNO)
